Module Two · Session 2.2
The Curved Letters
Eleven letters that bend, and with them your capital alphabet is complete. The circle family, O Q C G D, is all built on the circle drawn in two halves; keep it round, not egg shaped, and keep D's spine truly vertical. The spine-and-bowl letters, B P R U J S, join a straight stroke to curves: spine first, then the bowls.
The fine points
The Two Halves
R · Leg From the Bowl
J · Hook on the Baseline
B's lower bowl sits slightly larger than the upper. R's leg kicks out from the bowl, never from the spine. S is two opposing curves sharing one line, and it collapses the moment you rush it. J is one continuous stroke: down, then a rounded hook resting on the baseline.
The drills
1
The circle family: trace the champagne set, the gray set, then the empty row. O Q C G D.
2
Spine and bowl: the same pattern for B P R U J S. Take these slower; the joins teach the most.
3
The whole family, small, then the open rows. If one letter keeps breaking, return to its trace row.
