Real Life: The Notecard, Envelope & Letter

The payoff session: real writing, at real size, for real occasions. Three templates at true scale: a 6.25 by 4.5 notecard, its envelope, and the 6.25 by 9 letter sheet. Write a thank-you or a holiday greeting on the card, address the envelope with the centering ticks (count the letters of the longest line, set its middle letter on the tick, work outward), and for the letter, write the condolence you would want to receive: plain, warm, and brief.

The drills
1
The notecard. Greeting, three or four steady lines, and a sign-off. Pace yourself so the last line is as level as the first.
2
The envelope. Rehearse the name line on the practice row before committing it to the front.
3
The letter. Date, greeting, a steady page, sign-off. The longer form rewards the warmup; do two minutes of Sheet 1 first.
And after

Set your Sheet 7 beside your very first Warming Up sheet and look at the distance between them. Keep both. A hand stays clean the way a press stays true: small, regular maintenance, and the warmup sheet is always Sheet 1.
